Preventing Child Trafficking

There are thousands of Cambodian children working on the streets day and night. These children are in great danger of being raped, kidnapped and sold into the sex industry. The Princess Project rescues children from the streets before they can be taken. Their motto is ‘To Reach Out and Rescue; To Teach and Transform.’ Rescuing the children from the streets is only the first step. They then go on to spend years working with each child, providing an education, health care, vocational skills and equipping them with everything they will need to succeed in life. This Australian run organisation is doing great work on the ground in Cambodia and we are keen to get behind them. Find out more about them here.

Life Force Appeal

We love supporting local Goodwill Projects. Life Force Cancer Foundation has been running invaluable weekly support groups for cancer patients and survivors since 1993. It was a sanctuary for our friend Louise when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010, where she could discuss her anxieties and fears and learn coping skills. Unfortunately this wonderful organisation is struggling due to lack of funding. Louise is running the City to Surf this year to help keep Life Force afloat and we are sponsoring this worthy cause. Get behind Life Force here.

Protecting Country Project

Our dear friends Magali McDuffie and Alexander Hayes from Ngikalikarra Media have been working on a 35 minute documentary featuring many well known Aboriginal Elders and leaders from South Australia who provide their account of how important it is for all Australians to protect country from past, present and planned uranium mining and nuclear dump activities. They are bringing ‘Protecting Country’ documentary on a screening road trip across Australia, travelling 6000kms through some of the most remote regions in the world. We are supporting them on this journey and encourage you to look into their project!

Unicef African Famine Appeal

Having heard of the current East Africa Food Crisis where 20 million lives are at risk of famine coiinciding with drastic international aid budgets cuts, it’s up to us who have been given so much, to be generous with those struggling to feed their families. We have also partnered with Nourish Cards, a local group of ladies (including Melanie from our team) who have been running stalls to raise money, by donating some of our tea towels, tote bags, aprons and cards. So far they have raised nearly $4000.

Nature Conservation

As you know, the environment holds a special place for La Source, providing us with inspiration and joy! So we decided to support the great work that nature.org.au does, as a voice for nature in NSW. This democratic, not-for-profit, non-government organisation that represents a diverse range of conservation groups in New South Wales, protects bountiful biodiversity and environmental change, and that’s something we LOVE!

Fred Hollows Foundation

As artists (and humans), we often take the gift of sight for granted. This wonderful foundation named after our Randwick local eye surgeon Fred Hollows seeks to end preventable blindness around the world. They also run health programs in Indigenous communities, which we are keen to get behind and support.

Bridging the gap for Aboriginal children

The Cathy Freeman Foundation programs help broaden horizons and inspire Indigenous students to experience their full potential in school, and beyond. It acknowledges the strength and wisdom that lies within remote Indigenous communities through partnerships with community, elders and school leaders. Our desire is for the our indigenous brothers and sisters to have the same opportunities as all Australians.

Fire Brigade Heros

We think firies are amazing, as they put their lives on the line for us. Rural Fire Brigades are often more than just an emergency service – they are also a vital community service providing community meeting points and offer assistance with non-emergency roles. This summer we want to give back to those who give so much for us all year round.

November is Movember month

Since 2003, The Movember Foundation has raised over $685 million funding a staggering 832 men’s health projects! They seek to make a global contribution to men living happier, healthier, longer lives, which we think is just wonderful! Being two ladies who run La Source Australia, we won’t be growing moustaches but we will be giving to this great cause! Find out more about them HERE.
